You may not have heard of Tinie Tempah but he seems to be kind of a big deal out in the UK. His single 'Pass Out' just hit number 1 on the UK charts. The 21 year old MC's album is expected to drop this summer and it seems has gotten a lot of support from the London scene. He was named one of MTV's "10 for 2010." He had a party this past Sunday to celebrate the single hitting the top spot, and of course I was there. Interview with this new artist coming soon. Check out his official video above, and expand this post to check out photos and video from the party.

Style: London Fashion Week AW 2010
London's Fashion Week proved to be the most low key in terms of extravagant designers and celebrity apperances. In fact, the designs on the runway this season proved more wearable than the outfits of most of the show goers, each invitee seeking to either express the most extreme version of their style, or simply to out dress the others. Aside from the catwalks, it was the bloggers who ruled LFW this year with an increased amount of 33 percent of invites going to Fashion Bloggers, whose motto seemed to be to gain access by "any means necessary."
What IS London Fashion? from SocietyandStyle.com on Vimeo.
With a constant stream of shows, LFW took place without a hitch each show going live as close as possible to its scheduled times. And as a special mark of the digital revolutions influnece on fashion, each show was streamed live online and an assortment of photos and videos can be found on http://www.londonfashionweek.co.uk/. The press lounge was also full equipped with Macs galore, perfect for instant updates, live blogging and footage uploading. And, if any of the media had time between shows, there was a Mac make over station, and Toni & Guy blow out station.
Some of the highlights this season were from Vivenne Westwood, Sass & Bide, Bora Aksu, House of Holland, PPQ and Mulberry. In addition to the shows there were presentations in various rooms throughout Somerset House.

In remembering Black History, we try to focus on the good but Black History is so complex that its sometimes hard to tell the good from the bad. One case in point-- the N word. Some say that the meaning changed, while others still only hear the ring of their ancestors cries when the word is uttered.
Up and coming film maker A.V. Rockwell took on the topic in her documentary titled N. I posted the final project a couple of months ago (click here to view). But, if you want to take your viewing experience to the next level, you should definitely add this screening to your agenda. The documentary will be shown along with a Q&A.

BRAG 39th Annual Gala
Being Black and in the fashion industry wasn't always something to "brag" about but these days with all the strides made and barriers broken there was plenty to celebrate at BRAG's 39th annual Gala. Yet, there is still more work to do and obstacles to overcome...ENTER - BRAG, Black Retail Action Group, a non profit organization with members including everyone who is anyone in the fashion industry and anyone who wants to become someone.
The organization celebrated 39 years of executive development, mentorship and scholarship at Cipriani's in New York City. Hosted by actress Malinda Williams, it was a night to inspire young fashion talent, like designer Raeana Roberson, to reach for the stars and to encourage fashion vets like Latisha Daring, to keep striving.
Fox fur throw designed by Raeana Roberson in the silent auction at the BRAG Gala.
There was a formal dinner in addition to various presentations and awards. Honorees included Constance White, Style Director of E-Bay and renown fashion writer, Magic Johnson, Richard Dent COO of Victoria's Secret Pink, Brian Dunn Chief officer of Best Buy, Shawn R. Outler Vice President of Macy's Inc., Stephen I. Sadove chairman of Saks, and Colin and Latisha Daring Owners of Pieces Boutique. During Magic Johnson's speech, he raised $10,000 for the organization by auctioning off floor seats to a Laker's game and an autographed jersey. At the end, DJ Beverly Bond, founder of Black Girls Rock, played some tunes for everyone to groove out to.
