Events: MADonly Relaunch Party | The Diagnosis

Even with the overflow of blogs online, when MadOnly.com was up and running they managed to catch the attention of some of the top bloggers, artists and music enthusiasts because of their consistency and hunger.  They became one of the go to sites for video footage from every buzz worthy show in NYC and then began to do one on one interviews with up and coming artists including Melanie Fiona.  The site is relaunching this Friday and on Saturday night they want to celebrate!

Save This Young Star's Life: Shannon Tavarez

We have the power to turn Shannon's story into a miracle.  Eleven-year-old Shannon loves to sing and dance and even performed on Broadway in The Lion King. But right now her only dream is to have the opportunity to grow up because she has leukemia.  It's a deadly disease and she needs a bone marrow transplant to save her life.

Shannon is of African-American and Latino decent and would likely find a match within her own ethnic groups. Minorities make up a very low percentage of registered donors.

"If I wasn't in this situation, if I would look at someone else and if I was old enough to actually get swabbed and donate my bone marrow, I would definitely go for it because I want to make a difference and help other kids. This battle is a tough one, but I'm going to get through it." - Shannon Tavarez.

Big K.R.I.T. @ SOBs [video + re-cap]

Society and Style: BIG KRIT @ SOBs from SocietyandStyle.com on Vimeo.

From Big KRIT's view point the audience probably looked like the down south sky he's used to, a black canvas bedazzled with lights.  Blackberry screens, flip cams and digital camera flashes lit up the audience at SOB's last week as he took to the stage for his first headline show in NYC since inking his record deal.

It was his official Def Jam signing party presented by Def Jam Records, Cinematic Music Group, and DJBooth.net.   Hailing from Mississippi, K.R.I.T. announced how special the night was, and how honored he felt to have this celebration happen on a New York stage.  Special guests included Smoke Dza, Curren$y and an appearance by Mickey Factz.  The show opened up with a new artist followed by Smoke DZA who warmed up the crowd with “Marley and Me”, and “Crazy Glue”, and then brought up Mickey Factz to perform “The Rush.”  Mickey wasn't slated to perform that night but definitely turned the energy up in the room before Curren$y hit the stage.

Santos: Modern Day Studio 54

Santos "Our Studio 54" NYC from slick jackson on Vimeo.

If you live in NYC and have been out on a Friday Night you know Santos is where we usually end up. I like to look at it as the modern day Studio 54. Just Blaze on the 1's and 2's, Chad hooking it up with the tickets at the door, People hanging outside starting shit with the bouncers. A melting pot of all NYC'S many faces in one spot.

Events: Paper Magazine Social Networking Party

Paper Magazine Social Networking Party from SocietyandStyle.com on Vimeo.

Paper magazine hosted an event to celebrate their social networking issue.  Sarah Silverman was the cover girl and it featured who they considered to be the most innovative and savvy people on the web.  I spoke with some of the featured bloggers about how it felt to be honored by the magazine and how they think social networking has impacted our culture.  Some of them like Najwa came into the game early, and some, like Dee & Ricky have quickly grown in popularity because of their brand.  Check out the video above to see what they had to say.

I posted photos on NBCNewYork.com.  Visit the site to see who else was there.
